Hedgehog Fly (Tachinidae)

Pasochoa Forest Reserve, Prov. Pichincha, Ecuador

The hedgehog flies are parasitoids of caterpillars. In high altitude forests, these large, charismatic flies are usually observed basking in bright sunlight.
