I met Larry M, Hal Y and Zach P at the Walmart in south OKC at 7am Saturday and we drove to Idabel in Hal's van. We stopped at Turtle Creek Park on the Pine Creek Reservoir on the way down and found several birds, including this Song Sparrow in willows and reeds along the water.

We went up a hill in the park to an area with pine, oak and other trees and found this Eastern Phoebe.

Chipping sparrow in winter plumage--note dark lores (between eye and beak) which are an extension forward of the dark eye line; light malar stripe with bordering darker mustache stripe above and lateral throat strip below, all of which curve around the bottom of the cheek and auriculars; clear breast; white eye ring which is somewhat interrupted by the dark eye line; drab bill color; long, strongly forked tail.

First photo of Yellow Rail. The bird was so close and the grass so thick, I was not able to get a clear picture of it from where I stood in the circle of observers. But the Yellow Rail markings are clear.
