The snake was about a foot long and only about a quarter of an inch in diameter. Chito identified it the next day as a Cat-eyed Snake (Northern Cat-eyed snake, Leptodeira septentrionalis, in Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica), because of the pattern on its back.
