I cut two pieces of 1/2" exterior plywood for the bottom predator guard and put a piece of 1" extruded insulation board between them to provide some additional insulation. This was probably overkill, since I drilled air holes through all this to allow air to circulate through the tower, but the Kyles had written of the danger of heat killing baby birds.
