Male Yellow-Shafted Northern Flicker had just mated with a female on a nearby branch and both were inspecting and poking into this hole. The Starling kept flying in and out of the hole to the right. It wasn't clear whether the Starling was invading an existing Flicker nest or the Flickers were just hoping to wrest the space from the Starling.
