My grandfather, Coby Lorenzen, Sr., was an engineer on the SPCRR until his transfer in 1897 to Oakland. Mr. Lorenzen started on the old narrow guage Santa Cruz and Felton railroad in 1879, became a fireman in 1880 and on 23 October 1884 he became a full-fledged locomotive engineer. He retired from the Southern Pacific 1 June 1925.

Do you folks have any other photos of any 2-8-0's that ran over the Santa Cruz/Los Gatos line? I am currently planning to build some On30 modules of Wrights Station, and want to know what kind of steam power was used then.. I just found out that my grantfather was a machinist on the south pacific railroad.
he later returnd to the Netherlands wher I still live.
could there be anything in your archives that shows when he was working there?
his name was Adrian H Van Dam
I am very curious to find out more about him
