1884 Marschutz & Cantrell 0-4-0T

Elk River Mill & Lumber Co. 1 "Falk"


Owned by California State Parks.

Location: Ft. Humboldt State Park, Eureka, CA


This 10 Ton Standard gauge engine was the first steam engine to visit us in sometime in the 1990s. We added a standard gauge 3rd rail to 300' of track on Deer Park Siding to allow this engine to run.


Unfortunately this was before widespread digital cameras were available so we are looking for images...

I have a couple of color images when the Falk No. 1 was at Ardenwood during one Railfaire event years ago, as well as a B&W negative of both the locomotive and the horse-drawn operation at Deer Park station, both side by side with the Belgian draft horse scoping out the locomotive with a look of "what the ....?" expression.
