Valdez is situated in a beautiful valley on Prince William Sound. Surrounded by magnificent mountains and glaciers, there is non-stop beauty in every direction. The little town also has a big history dating back to the gold rush at the end of the 19th century. Destroyed by a monstrous earthquake in 1964, the town was rebuilt about four miles away, on safer ground.
