Farne Isles and Amble, Northumberland, England. I was lucky enough to be able to make my first trip over to Inner Farne with Billy Shiels Boats on 29th June 2025. I have long wanted to make a trip to one of the Isles where Puffins can be seen closely and I missed out on Skoma by not realising how quickly each year the trips book. There is a 1 hour landing time on Inner Farne so vertical learning curve and it goes in the blink of a camera! I think I got some decent photos of the Puffins, both in flight and portraits, and also of the Arctic Terns which were a first for me.
The following day we dropped into Amble in the hope of seeing Roseate Turns feeding in the bay - not to be but Little Terns were awesome and a very obliging Oyster Catcher gave a good show of how to get a Limpet for lunch!to save me having to add tech info - I used my Nikon D500 with an f/4 70-200mm zoom and later my 300mm pf prime lens. 1/600s at f/5.6 for both.
