Anybody remember "Blind Faith?" (Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood and Ginger Baker.)
I remember loving that song---"Sea of Joy," and trying to share its power and beauty
with my parents.

"Can you hear it?" I asked after playing the record..."Can you hear how wonderful it is?"
I thought that at least the Ginger Baker drum solo would bridge the generations.
"No," my mother said, defiance in her voice. She would not give an inch to these hippies.
It was a moment of realization for me, of understanding that the separation of generations
was inevitable. There could be no bridge, at least not in my family.
