We chose to maintain an eco friendly property and did not use pesticides to control the infestation of tent caterpillars. Instead we eliminated the winter nests by cutting off egg masses as we snowshoed the property. In the spring we waited until dusk to destroy the nests by hand. We allowed some nests to remain as this is food for a variety of birds.
