Sandy and I boarded a plane at 8:40 yesterday (Tuesday 22 Jan 2008) morning in Seattle, Washington. Wednesday morning at 8:20 we landed in Rome. Not a whole lot of sleep on the plane, and we couldn't check into our hotel until 2:00PM. So we dropped our bags off at the hotel, (Hotel Spring House) and walked the block and a half to the Vatican Museum. We toured the museum and ended up in the Sisteen Chapel. WOW! (It was the only part of the museum where photography wasn't allowed).
At 2 we checked into our room and crashed for a few hours, then headed out adventuring... Took the Metro, (subway) to the Coliseum, and walking out of the station I had no idea we'd be directly across the street from THE Coliseum! Time was short as the subway stops running at 10:00PM and we wanted to catch the last train back to our hotel. But we have tomorrow.
After getting back to our hotel we decided to see if we could find a bite and found a nice Ristorante around the corner. Great food, some red wine, and the wonderful company of my lovely wife. What could be better?
This is a night shot of the Coliseum (Coloseo to the locals) with the moon overhead. More to follow.
