Film Noir

I was playing around with Film Noir lighting, with its strong direct light & equally strong shadows giving an extra dramatic dimension.

Not having a film studio at my disposal, I used 1) a bedlamp - with a tungsten globe as it has more direct light waves 2) 2 backdrops, 1 black & 1 white - set up on the back verandah 3) a self-adhesive halogen spot at the cost of $1.50 AUD 4) a piece of cardboard with slots cut out to make 'venetian blind' stripes of light 5) a co-operative, cold husband suffering from nicotine overdose.

I had the camera on a tripod, but the bedlamp, when not on the ground, was on the rubbish bin & the fill-in spot was on the recycling bin. Both are wheelie bins, so easily moved. A very sophisticated set-up ;0). It was all done after dark on a cold, (for Australia), night.
