Hurricane Camille Memorial

I took a drive to Biloxi on the Saturday morning prior to the storm and stopped by the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, where this memorial is (was) located. I stood here and pondered what had happened in '69 and had a really uneasy feeling about the approaching storm. Click HERE for additional background on the church and the memorial. Click here to see an image of this memorial after Katrina struck.

I JUST WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU FOR THESE PICTURES. MY BROTHER'S NAME IS LISTED HERE. HE IS LISTED AS ONE OF THE MISSING. I HAVE BEEN TO THE MONUMENT PRE-KATRINA BUT NOT SINCE KATRINA. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO BRING MYSELF TO GO. AFTER SO MANY YEARS, I HAVE JUST COME TO TERMS WITH THE WHOLE SITUATION AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DEAL WITH THE FACT THAT THE ONLY PLACE HIS SPIRIT MY BE IS DESTROYED. THANKS FOR PICTURE OF THE AFTER. ALTHOUGH THERE IS SOME DESTRUCTION, HIS NAME IS INTACT. THIS MAY SOUND STUPID OR SILLY, BUT WHEN A LOVED ONE IS MISSING-NEVER TO HAVE BEEN FOUND-YOU REACH FOR THE LITTLEST STRAW. THE CAMILLE MONUMENT IS MY SMALL STRAW. HE IS THERE IN SPIRIT IF NOT BODY. WHEN YOU DON'T GET TO SAY GOODBYE, YOUR CLOSURE ELUDES YOU. MY HEART GOES OUT TO ALL THE VICTIMS OF THE GULF COAST REGION. ALTHOUGH I HAVE LOST MY HOME TO THOSE HORRIBLE THINGS WE KNOW AS HURRICANES, I STILL HAVE MY THE REST OF MY FAMILY & FRIENDS. I WOULD GLADLY LOSE ALL MY POSSESIONS JUST TO HAVE MY BROTHER BACK TO TELL HIM I LOVE HIM.
