Morvich 02
This was something I had not seen before...this is a small tidal lagoon at the head of Loch Duich where the River Croe flows in. What I think happened here is that the fresh water from the river flowed over the salt water on the rising tide and froze in a thin layer. With temperatures of -5C overnight and absolutely no wind, the tide slowly ebbed and the thin layer of ice subsided and took up the shape of the grass hummocks and rocks on the beach, creating this quite amazing effect!

28_Mar_10 Caisteal Grugaig Broch, Totaig
This Broch sits high on a promontary above the junction of Loch Alsh and Loch Duich.
The hill on which the broch stands is called Watchplace of the Tower or in the Gaelic “Faire an Duine” which legend has it was the domicile of the witch Grugaig.
She bore two giant sons Telve and Todder who, legend also has it, constructed the Broch, and a couple more over the hill in Glenelg.

The River Croe flows down through Gleann Lichd,
with the crags of Meall an Fuarain Mhoir in the background.
It was a day of sunshine and showers, but a grand day to be out.

The amazing power of the multi-faceted lens...
It's hard to tell from the image but this lens is about 7 ft across
and once was installed in a lighthouse off the Scottish Coast.
