Ancient Ground

Aberdeenshire

The Cullerlie Stone Circle dates from 1500BC,
so is indeed ancient...
I hoped to get some motion going in the clouds
by opting for a long exposure...but it didn't really work
...they obviously weren't moving fast enough!

Lovely shot Stewart, and my head is now reeling with all of Norman's figures!

Very pretty...I like the clouds too.

I like Norman's comment - very apt! This is a wonderfully composed shot, Stewart - the softness of the clouds contrasts nicely with the sharp relief of the ancient stones. And such beautiful greens and blues as well, with a perfectly placed tree....V+

Well, I see a little bit of movement in the clouds, but I imagine you hoped for more.
Nevertheless: it is a beautiful shot.

Great fun experimenting with slow time exposure, a wonderful shot with those old
stones & the bare tree. I just love to see that green grass!

fast clouds, slow stones, but of course we all know this is peanuts compared to its overall speed in the universe. Both these clouds ans stones, are moving at 800 miles an hour, on the surface of our rotating earth. And that the earth is moving an additionnal 67,000 mph around the sun, and the sun is moving at 9,000 mph around in the our galaxy, which is itself moving at 22,000 mph towards andromeda and our local group of galaxie is moving at.... everything is relative. and i will now add this comment in 4 seconds, Image the lenth these boulders will travel when my comment will be visible to a billion person on earth, all rotating and travelling at those speeds, no wonder so many speeding tickets are given out.

WOW. 30 seconds and no motion. They must have been admiring the history ;-)
Phillip Normanton11-Apr-2009 21:51
Clouds - they never do what you want 'em to!! lol
You did well to get to 30 sec in daylight tho, must be about 10-stops?
Kevin Chester11-Apr-2009 21:10
Still looks good, maybe a big ND filter to open the shutter up even more. ( an amature Photographers attempt at advice, please ignore if required :-) )
