The lunch stop this day was near the summit of the ridge, at an elevation of over 3700 feet. The sky was overcast, and there was a threat of rain. So the fires built by local volunteers were a welcome sight to many cyclists.
Can't remember what we had for lunch this particular day.... pulled pork sandwich maybe. Whatever, it had plenty of calories to replace those burned in the morning's ride. According to Cycle Oregon, daily food intake of the average rider contains 6000 calories. But I never felt as if I over-ate (over-drank is a different issue).
