Backpacking in Kings Canyon National Park Days 7 and 8

Day 7, 10 miles, 2 miles on trail, 7 miles cross country over Harrison Pass, and another mile on trail to camp at the south end of East Lake. It took 12 hours to get to camp (6:30am to 6:30pm). Saying the cross country terrain was torturous would be putting it mildly. The north side of the pass was a gravel filled avalanche chute. Crossing large boulder fields was common as was hiking down water falls and over rock faces. Day 8, 13.5 miles from East Lake to Cedar Grove. The day was all down hill dropping 4400' over the course of the day.
