May 2001, my sister and I spent a few hours wandering around Denver. Mostly on the 16th street mall.
We hit Longmont and Boulder every year to visit relatives, but really hadn't been to Denver before.

I grew up in Denver from 1941 to 1961 before I left for good for a career in the U.S. Army. I have been back twice and was totally amazed at the growth of Denver. Even after seeing the downtown area on "Dinesty" I did not believe the skyline they showed until I came back to see for myself. While flying in at dusk circling over Pikes Peak, there are nothing but a strip of lights from Cheyenne to Trinadad. I just couldn't believe it.
But commenting directly on this site, the one beautiful photograph, I feel, that is absent from this set is the view from the 1 Mile High Step Marker on the Capital building toward the Roman Classic City and County Building drapped by the Purple Mountains Majesty, the Rocky Mountains. That is the true essence of Colorful Colorado, the pristine beauty and purity of that great state.

downtown hobbies is a classic, it moved to Cinderalla City, from there who knows, spent a lot of money there
