House Fire 04_16_08.jpg

I took this photo, last night, from our back patio. We had just finished a late dinner with our daughter Brandy and our son-in-law Ryan when we heard sirens. The firetrucks were a couple hundred yards behind our house right at the base of the mountain. You could just barely see the smoke but within minutes the whole home was engulfed in flames. I grabbed the 5D and snapped a few quick shots hand held.

I guess you could call this good news. the house that burned down was a vacant home. So, nobody was hurt and no peronal belongings lost.

Dear Eric Hewis,

I'm sorry you misread my comments of Bill's photo as being unsympathetic.
This is photo gallery web site, where photographers discuss photography, not social issues.

I volunteer much of my spare time so non-profit organizations, and donate my photos to them for their causes free of charge.
They include the Salvation Army, the Canadian Paraplegic Association, PaddleAll Canada, Canoe/Kayak Association, the Rick Hansen Foundation, Eva Olsson Holocaust Survivous, Rob Ellis Foundation for Industrial Accidents, and the local Veterans support group.

Please cut me a little slack here!
David

Please back-off

Gah..

That reminds me, time for an off-site backup of my data.

One of my worst nightmares!!! It boggles the mind how quickly fire devours a lifetime of memories... I hope everyone walked away from this...and wish them a speedy turnaround to a new home! Very surreal shot Bill...

David J Smith, how sympathetic, I hope everybody was OK.

Isn't the 70-200 f2.8 IS USM a great lens? . . .
1/4 sec hand held at 150mm . . . Wow!
I find that the 70-200 and the 24-70 cover most of my shooting on the 5D.
Well done Bill.

Oh my, that's horrible. A homeowners worst nightmare. Great PJ shot.

Wow Bill, that sure doesn't look good from the home owners stand point! Looks like the winds where blowing alittle away from you but still, SCARY! Nice shot.
