Browning Superposed Pintail 12_28_07.jpg

I know it has been a while since I have posted a photograph. I'll cheat a little today. Here is a photograph of a Browning Superposed Waterfowl Pintail 1982 Issue I took at work yesterday. Life is good. I get to photograph spectacular guns like this all day long.

Nikon D70
1/160s f/16.0 at 65.0mm full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

This is a nice picture but, but where is Wanda?????

In life devote yourself to joy and love
Behold the beauty of the peaceful dove
Those who live, in the end must all perish
Live as if you are already in heavens above

I may take heat for this but low maintenance is what I would call Wanda...hope she lets this one slide ... today is our 27th anniversary.

We're headed out of town for a couple of weeks. I'm not sure what my internet service will be like. For sure there will be lots of photographs. Check back often.

It's a beautiful expensive firearm, but I'd much rather see something more low maintenance.....like Wanda! lol

Hi Bill ..... I had to look at this. Thought it might be an amazingly fabulous Christmas present! Best wishes to you and Wanda for 2008. See ya in the park!

Great lighting on this weapon, Bill. But with a Nikon. What's up with that?

Bill Not as nice as Wanda but an excellent job of lighting. I know how hard it is to make all the ellements sing and you did.

Fitz, you're close enough if you want to see how this is done just stop by the Gun Library. The quick a dirty is one soft box behind the gun, another strobe with a grid to my left and three reflectors. The hard part of this is making the engraving show. The shading in the engraving is really shadows. All the metal is the same gray polished steel. If you light it to directly it is like taking pictures of a mirror and the engraving just washes out. Lighting is really about getting the shadows where you want them.

I've recently become a student of studio lighting. Can you tell us how you set this shot up?
Guest 30-Dec-2007 02:48
Very nice work. If I can ask, what lens did you use? The perspective is just right.

Lovely piece of work, and a nice shot.

What wonderful craftsmanship. This is an excellent presentation of a work of art.

Great shot.

Hey the camera is the one Cabela's provides for me to shoot with. It takes a decent picture but the buttons and dials are all in the wrong places ... someday I'll convince them to upgrade to Canon...lol.
