Wanda 02_25_07.jpg

We have a model protesting a little and being a little silly. That is Wanda for you.

It was a cold and snowy day today here in the Rocky Mountains of Utah. Just the perfect day to stay home; where it is warm and cozy. I just had to snap a photo or three of Wanda relaxing with a hot mug of soup.

Canon EOS 5D ,Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM
1/200s f/4.0 at 70.0mm iso800 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Today is my birthday, so of course I was hoping for a new picture of Wanda as a present. Oh well, there are still 15 hours left in the day :-)

Chris, I may disappoint you. I'm not sure I will make it to PMA next week. We're down to almost the finish on the house we are building. We were supposed to close tomorrow but final inspection isn't done. If I do get down to Las Vegas it will only be for a day. Likely Thursday.

Boy I can't wait for life to get back to normal.

Yes, excellent lighting. I am just now trying multiflash and off camera shoe flash setup.

Great shot Bill. How did you manage the white balance with such a mixed bag of light sources?

This message was sent in private but I thought everyone should see it

"Bill,

Although not a member of Pbase I have admired your work for quite sometime. I do have a question regarding your statement about positioning the flash off to one side. In the Full EXIF there is no mention of a flash being connected to the 5D; are you using a slave mounted to the 5d to sync the flash for the exposure? Just curious... "

For some reason PBase doesn't seem to pick up when I have used the flash on the 5D in the EXIF data.

for this I had the flash on a stand as a slave and used the ST-E2 as the master.

Lovely light Bill.

Beautiful shot, as usual, Bill. You are fortunate to have such a lovely and cooperative wife who will model for you, even if she does stick out her tongue on occaission. Could she be giving you a hint with her gesture? ;)

Nice soft illumination. Really sets off the skin tones nicely. She has no reason to be shy - she's a beautiful lady.

Looking silly, or did she burn her tongue?
VerymarriedV 26-Feb-2007 05:45
We had a cold snowy day back here in the east as well. A picture of Wanda, even one of her being silly, is enough to melt the snow, soup or no soup. I won't even get into what her sticking out her tongue like that does! :-)

No this is a combination of ambient light and some flash. I metered the light off lamp and then matched the metering with the flash in manual. I had the flash, off the camera, to my left.

Nice shot. Is this all ambient light? Very nice exposure.

Yes, "it is hard to find good help" some might say. But even a silly Wanda looks good to me.
