Smith Wesson K-22 Masterpiece 02_6_06.jpg

You know, there are times I love my new job. Last week a gentleman brought this Smith and Wesson K-22 Masterpiece in to the store to trade in for something else. It was meticulously built in 1948 and is still in excellent condition. It called to me and I couldn't resist; so, I bought it.

I had a newer version many years ago but did a foolish thing and sold it. This old classic revolver will fill the void left by the other.

For 50 yard slow fire and 25 yard rapid fire shooting competitions the S&W K-22 Masterpiece was once king of the hill. This one is more accurate than I'm capable of using to its full potential. I will continue to practice.

Bill, We didn't get our wanda valentine. Is everything O.K??
Guest 16-Feb-2006 04:19
Valentine's day and no Wanda??
We are all suffering.

This is nice shooting, a fine photograph and the gun is pretty, but not as pretty as Wanda - got the hint ?

I say for a pistal shooter your a marksman.

Hey William,
You have the last two captioned wrong. Wanda should be listed at a "master piece"
and the Smith & Wesson as the the "proof reader" .

Those are some cheap earplugs I bought just for the picture.

Nice photo. What are those orange things next to the bullets?

Ah yes this brings back memories! When I first joined the Pistol Club in 1968 I used one of these for 50m Free Pistol event. I sold it and bought a Hammerli - a exquisite piece of target shooting hardware. Later on I sold it and bought a Canon - still trying to lean to shoot with that as well.
Nice shot, just as I remember it - I think I can still smell the powder.

Nice tight group, also nice image.

Nice image! I've fired one of these also...a friend owned one a long time ago, although I could barely keep it on the paper for some reason...my fault for sure. The crazy thing is, I could keep a tighter group with his 44 mag Ruger Bisley...crazy.

This is almost identical to the Spanish Star 38 Special, right down to the firing pin. (Circa 1940’s). I inherited it from my Dad, and foolishly gave it to my Brother many years ago as a gift thinking it would be fairly easy to replace. (Sigh), … I’m still looking! This is a good piece, one worth handing down to a family member.

Nice shooting, I guess no ones going to be fooling around after Wanda!

Looks like you were pretty darn accurate to me! Nice shot.

I'm not big on guns of any kind, however this excellent photo gives me a chance to say "nice shot!"

OK, now you've got me all nostalgic!
When I started pistol shooting in 1974, our club had a rule that you had to be sponsored by a regular member; a mentor if you will.
I must have put 5000 rounds through his K22, and still remember how great it felt.
Shortly after that I fell in love with a 1911A1 .45ACP, and have been shooting it ever since.
The old guns never die; they are like Harley's, you just keep rebuilding them.

That is 24 rounds fired single action with a two hand hold.

Nice image and great side arm. That's a mighty tight group at 25 yards with iron sights. Was that 24 or 30 rounds? I have a el cheapo plastic like .22. A Beretta U-22 Neos. Yeah it's a "future forward" looking gun but it is light, inexpensive and the first offering from Beretta totally designed and made in America. In two years I have put almost 25,000 rounds thru it and have had maybe a dozen misfires and those were cause by me from putting around 2,000 rounds thru with out cleaning it. For a while I was putting a 550 round carton thru it two or three times a week. Anyway sorry I rambled, guns are fun and I love mine.

nice pattern.

Those S&W K frames have been around a long time. I had a .38 model I got surplus from a RR switching to autoloaders. Kept it until the kids got curious.
Nice shooting (gun and camera).
