Some things Are Not Pretty 01_03_06.jpg

While this image may be gruesome, I just had to make Bill stop the car and let Me take the shot. For some reason, this scene struck Me. It was a reminder of how precious life is and how quickly it can change.

I envision this deer just moments before she met her demise, happily bouncing along, about to leap over a fence she has no doubt jumped over hundreds of times before. But in a fraction of a moment and a slight misjudgement on her part, her life took a terrible turn. Just like Mine did recently when I crunched our car after spinning out of control on black ice. I had traveled happily down that road many times and was perhaps too comfortable on it. Lucky for Me, I did not suffer the same fate as this poor deer.

When I look at this image, that barbed wire symbolizes the black ice I hit that day. I hate to imagine the moments after that poor deer got hung up on the wires. Her carcus hanging there reminded Me just how lucky I am to be alive and to never take any moment of our precious life for granted.

look here tree huggers this symbolizes nothing more than a deer who was hit by a car and badly hurt who couldnt make it over the fence because it was dying of internal bleeding which im sure ended his life quite quickly

poor deer...when i think how long took for him to die and through what aggony he came .... it's just wrong, and just one question pops in my mind : ... people why we think only of ourselfs and our problems so much????? and most of those problenms we create oursefs.. we build barb wire fences and make everybody jump through it including ourself.....

Bill and Wanda. I took this exact photo about two years ago up here around home. Only for me all that was left was the spine of the animal and some hair. The predators had already took all they could. I ended up taking the spine and legs and dragging them to the bush. I figured the deer desereved a better place to rest then on that fence. I did not realize how common this actually is. Would it be possible for me to post this picture on our local bow hunting community forums?

Excellent photo and it certainly conveys the message.

Surely in these wild areas man could use more wildlife friendly methods of keeping his stock on the fields.

Nature should always come first.

A nice introspection, I am glad to hear you are OK.

Kenneth - actually, Ecclesiastes 24 says:
A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment? To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
Your quote from Ecclesiastes 7 is correct. I love that chapter of the Bible.

Thank the Lord that he watches out for us every minute of every day.

From Ecclesiastes:

All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full: unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.
All things are full of labor; man cannot utter it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.
The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labor the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun.

and there is no new thing under the sun.

Awww, so sad. Your comments on your accident really hit me last week when my son was involved in a accident. http://www.pbase.com/jim_mckinlock/image/54251690
You just never know what could happen at any time.

We have friends with an 8-year old daughter killed in a hit and run accident this week. Life is short and unpredictable for all the creatures of our planet. Your image and thoughts go deep to the inner most reaches of our souls. We all pray for better things to those that go before us.
