Silver Cloud on a Rainy Day 06_08_05.jpg

Someone washing a car at our little local car wash isn't unusual. Someone washing a Rolls Royce is a bit odd. It has been raining all day. Washing a 1964 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud III when it is pouring rain, well now, that was just down right strange. I had to get a picture of that. You can see the rain drops hitting the pavement in the foreground.

its odd AND a great picture - thinking of b/w I've never thought of a car wash - looks like I've got to check out our local car wash...

Now this really is a bit odd then, isn't it. I once watched a woman send her car through a car wash with the top down. Oh it kicked up quite a fuss every step of the way as the person at each new station ran to her to ask tell her the top was down. She just told everyone not to worry -- the seats would dry. Very strange.

Looks good.

This car would make the perfect backdrop for Wanda!!

I do use the Channel Mixer adjustment to convert to black and white. I do all my level, curves and color adjustments first. Then I go to Channel Mixer and check the monochrome box. Then I adjust the channels to about red 40, green 30 and blue 30. I make minor adjustments to those values until I have the look I want. Watch out the level numbers add to or about 100. After that I might increase the contrast. Then it is resize and then sharpen as needed.

Who said old people aren't eccentric? Great shot---love the black and white tone. Did you use the channel mixer in ps? I use the b/w feature on my Canon G5 and it STILL doesn't do real black and white. I have no idea how to do real black and white photos digitally. If you or anyone else knows how, please kindly drop me a line at cuemommy@aol.com and it'll be very very much appreciated! Thanks---a faithful viewer of yours :-)

The scene might be strange... but the capture is fantastic, good use of B&W, great composition.

Yes a bit strange...
Nice image..especially shooting it in B&W....
Adds to the overall effect and compliments the ages of both the man and the Rolls Royce...

The age of the man and the age of the car go well together.
