Scrub Jay 05_07_05.jpg

The crab apple tree in our backyard is full of blooms. I had fun trying to capture this brave little jay. It has been hanging around since last winter. The jay will let you get within five or six feet but he tends to keep branches between him and you. I almost captured him clearly but it appears that one or two leaves were between me and him.

Very nicely done Bill.

The Scrub Jay is an endangered bird in SW Florida. If you have one nesting on your property you don't get to build a house. Great photo and I think the leaf adds to the nature of it.

Nice shot. Love the way the blue works against the background colors.

Very good detail in this image, the feathers! And, the colors are great!

great work capturing it so well among the reds.

Excellent detail. All my Scrub-Jays seem to have smooth feathers. And yes, it is difficult to get a clear shot.

the blue against the red highlights him well.
