Possessed Brewer's Blackbird 05_05_05.jpg

This little Male Cowbird turned to look at me. Too bad I couldn't get him to smile.

One of my goals is to get a good shot of a meadow lark. They seem to like fence posts where they can see for a long distance. They are just tough to get close to. What I really want is a nice old fence post with a good background. Here is tonight's effort.

Canon EOS 20D ,Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS USM
1/250s f/4.0 at 300.0mm iso400 with Flash full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Greg...I double checked my Audobon Field Guide and I think you are spot on it is a Brewers Blackbird. Thanks for pointing out the error.

Hard not to love the EF 300f/2.8L IS. It is flat amazing. I shot this at about 6 feet from the car window. He must wonder what the huge thing is pointing at him.

As you can tell from this photo. A big white lens does get attention when you point it at something. I took this a couple of days ago.

Say I like that lens you are using. Great detail here, and it does look like you caught that cowbird's attention. What a great 'face.'

The detail in the feathers is wonderful.

I thought only owls could turn their head a total 180 degree. He kind-a looks mad at you,,, "Ohh, now look what you made me do!" hehe
Nice definition of the bird in the low light you shot in. Well executed Will

Now that is a serious stare! Maybe we don't want him to smile.
