I was lucky enough to capture some images of a young hawk as it dropped from its nest.
There were a total three Red Shouldered hawks produced by the nest in 2008.
The young hawks dropped from the nest in early June and stayed on the ground for several days. They hunted for food in the grass. The grass has lots of small skinks that I've seen adult hawks catch.
They shortly learned to fly but hung around the nest area. While they were learning to fly they allowed me to get close enough to them so I could get a few decent photos with my D300 at 200mm.
