Geese in the No. 2 most threatened waterfowl habitat on the continent

This area spans from San Francisco to Northern Mexico and constitutes habitat for 60% of the Pacific Flyway's wintering waterfowl. Rapid urbanization and water shortages have been contributing factors in the loss of habitat in this area. The Central Valley/Coastal California region is considered number two of the twenty five most threatened waterfowl habitats on the continent. Wikipedia

Are they on someone's dinner table tonight?

It's good that now and then someone stands up and make a statement. We need way too much space, I fully agree. We're with too many, that is a huge problem (and no I'm not gonna kill myself for it). ~VV~

the landscape here has clearly been transformed...there's still a stretch of water for these travellers though...for now...

Marvelous capture (I won't say 'shot') of this scene, and thank you for making those important points, Sharon. Rapid urbanization is destroying so much habitat, and leaving waterfowl vulnerable to hunting in small areas where there is little escape.

I agree with Margot .

Lovely shot of the Canada geese. These guys are so big they make easy targets. V

I'd love to tack up signs that say NO HUNTING just to see if it makes any difference.
