A co-worker recommended I try the Reuben from McAlister's Deli, a growing chain. Since I had not been there before and it is nearby, I thought I would give it a try. The $9 sandwich includes a side- I chose coleslaw since fries were not an option- and is served with a pickle slice. There is 1/2 pound of lean, tender corned beef on this sandwich, and you will need a napkin while eating it as there is a lot of thousand island dressing on it. There is a good amount of Swiss cheese applied on top of the roast beef, and the sauerkraut was in good proportion for the sandwich. Back to the corned beef. It was similar to that used in the Subway Reuben, but better- more of a solid piece of corned beef than a stringy, kind of falling apart piece of corned beef- I will photograph what I mean when I run across it next. The bread- while there was a slight rye bread taste to the bread and it was very lightly toasted- was a thicker slice of rye bread than I like and seemed just a bit too soft (at least for my liking). In summary, not a bad sandwich and there was a lot there so I would give it a C.
