The Wild Latvia project is developed in Latgale, near the border with Russia, in the village of Nagli. The environment surrounding the site is very varied, passing from the large pine and birch forests to the aquatic vegetation of the immense Lubans lake. In this territory the focus of the project is a small reserve rich in ecotonal habitats that mark the transition between lake, meadow and forest. In this environment there is the possibility to meet many species of small birds such as the Marsh Tit, the European Greenfinch, the Eurasian Bullfinch and the Common Redpoll accompanied in the wooded area by 3 species of peaks: the Middle Spotted Woodpecker, the White-backed Woodpecker and the Grey-faced Woodpecker that are already photographable from the hide. Do not miss the birds of prey such as buzzards, sparrow hawks and white-tailed eagles! Moreover, another specie relevant to the project is the Black Grouse for which a special hide is being prepared to be used during the love season and that promises great emotions! But the project does not remain closed in the hide, our experts continually explore the area in search of other magnificent species to be known as the Eurasian Pygmy-Owl, the elk or the Western Capercaillie.
