(woops, hit the wrong button before finishing) i love this shot! i remember the animals seeming so sad in the c.p. zoo when i was a little kid - but this one seems content... like a buddha. fantastic!
I do have more negatives that show other animals at the Zoo. I just liked this guy because he was happily sitting in a tire. I'll be adding to this gallery as I find more pictures.

Remember Joe, the Gorilla or was he the orangutan in your photo, who used to spit at the spectators? I suggest that you visit the new and improved Central Park Zoo. Other than two polar bears who have a nice area to swim and bask in the sun, there are no large animals. Unfortunately, years ago there were very large animals in cages that did not provide sufficient space. Even the children's zoo has been redone although I liked the old children's zoo more.
