This is one of my two favourite places (so far) to visit in my own province (the other being Pacific Rim National Park). It's different from the wild beauty of Pacific Rim; it's more pastoral and tranquil. The island is also home to many talented artists. You can actually go visit them at their places of work (usually their own homes) on a "Studio Tour" of the island, or you can see them at the famous Saturday Market which is held, rain or shine, from April through October. I spent 3 days/nights here in May. It was the perfect antidote for the stresses of daily city life.
