I used the aperture priority mode and chrome colour setting for the first six photos, and shutter priority and normal colour for the others. The interesting thing is that, in aperture priority, the F30 will not drop the shutter speed below 1/4 second, but you can set the it all the way down to 15 seconds in shutter priority.
Sometimes people ask the question, "which camera is good for taking low light and night shots?" If there is a reasonable amount of light (like in the first six images below), a camera with either image stabilization (which the F30 does not have) or higher ISO capability (which the F30 does have) will be good. The latter is better if you have moving subjects and you don't want their movements to show up as motion blur in the photo.
But when it gets dark enough to require shutter speeds of 1 second or more (like in the last 7 images), what you really need is a camera that is capable of longer exposures, and a tripod. If you want to get proper night shots, a tripod is your friend. It's as simple as that.
