Exposure Compensation Tests

Occasionally, I found that the F10 would slightly overexpose outdoor shots. I got into the habit of taking two shots of the same scene - one at normal exposure, and a second with -1/3 EV exposure compensation. These photos were taken by the F30 using that technique. I didn't always prefer the "underexposed" image, but it's nice to have it available just in case.

Interesting, because I find that on my monitor (a Dell UltraSharp LCD), the -1/3 EV looks pretty dead on most of the time. However on some other LCD monitors (especially my parents' Compaq brand notebook), I've noticed that the photos do seem noticeably brighter. I'd like to think that my monitor is more accurate, but who knows? If I get the chance I will try some bright sunny shots at -2/3 to -1 EV to see what people think. Thanks for the comment.

I like the shots but it looks like -1/3 wasn't enough. I have found that up to -1 is necessary to get a really rich shot while safe guarding the highlights. It's not such a big deal to lighten it a little afterwards (well, sometimes it is)...Thanks for the posting.
