This job started by taking the old hot water heater, which was part of the oil furnace, and replacing it with a new electric hot water heater. The old hot water is still good and will be hooked up later the way it was, but in the garage. That hot water heater was installed in 1991. Next the oil furnace with all related piping, electrical components was removed from the laundry room. The last thing to go from the laundry was the chimney. It was taken down, roof patched, and laundry room ceiling patched. The chimney will be moved to the garage later.

Next an area in the garage had to be picked out with piping cost and chimney location to be considered important. An area was picked and cleared out, including removing shelves and their content. The boiler was set and the old piping components were reconfigured and installed. There were 5 zones to be hooked up. Two downstairs, 2 upstairs, and a hot water heater zone running off the boiler. The electric hot water heater was removed from the laundry room and located in the garage. Two 3/4" copper domestic water lines were needed to be extended, one for a domestic cold water into the HW heater, and one for a domestic hot water line out of HW heater. Teeing off of the cold water line to the HW heater will be a 1/2" copper feed line to supply the boiler with water. A back-flow preventer will be added to prevent the boiler water from backing up into the domestic cold water line Next 3 of the 5 zones will come from the crawl-space under the house. That will be 6 more pipes extending into the garage, 3 to the return header with the circulators , and 3 to the supply header. 2 oil lines will be brought underground from behind the garage, tunneled under the sidewalk , into the crawl-space,then into the garage to be connected to a new burner..
