Muscovy Ducklings - April 9, 2005

Cairina moschata – Muscovy Ducks. In spite of the signs posted around this lake, Muscovy ducks
are reportedly friendly and non-aggressive. They are a domesticated duck from South America and
are commonly kept as a source of food. Their meat is not greasy as is typical with ducks, but is
more like veal. They are a breed rapidly and are quite hardy, so they tend to displace other
forms of wildlife. The ducklings are cute and photogenic. :)
