Anoles

Anolis carolinensis – The Green Anole, also known as the American Anole and American Chameleon.
Anoles are often confused with chameleons, though unlike true chameleons, they can only change
colors between green and brown. They are quite beneficial to have around, as they primarily feed
on garden pests. The red dewlap on the male is used to defend their territory when threatened
and possibly to attract the female of the species. The anole is found throughout the southeastern
United States.
