Hawk Scroll Saw Model 220 Modifications

Last Edit: 10/09/2012

Front legs have been replaced with new shorter legs to allow working comfortably for long times when sitting on a stool. Working hight of was reduced by 6.25". This is a must for people with bad backs.

Due to the noise racket and unalignment of the parts in the rear tension assembly, when a blade broke, I had to make several improvements in order to enjoy the use of this poorly designed portion of the tool.

Rear steel pivot road replaced with aircraft aluminum one and a retention spring at the bottom of the rod plus an additional custom made spring assembly was added to the top tension arm and the round adjustment nut. Now there are no rattles when the blade breaks!

A new one piece bottom aluminum blade holder that fits between the lower arm and the table swivel structure making for much easier blade change. Two short set screws are locked in place at the end where the tool holding flange is milled. Inner screw is set just short of the center of the blade hole. Make sure that you grind the tip flat on two screws or they might cut the blade off!
The table tilt tightening knob bolt was also shortened to prevent interference with blade holder when changing blades.

The table tilt, rear bolt swivel clearance had to be adjusted to prevent undue strain on the on the front of the assembly making it hard to adjust to the proper angel.
