10th July - Conrad Kain Route -
Early one morning, three boys decided to go climb a mountain. |
They put on their warmest clothes and walked far far across glaciers and hills to reach their dream |
Step by step, plod by plod, they inched closer to the top. |
There where times when the felt very tired, but they had a dream. |
The youngest boy, Vaughan, nearly lost his sunglasses. |
That would have been tragic, for he would go blind from the dazzling brightness of the snow. |
Luckily they were found and the boys continued to the top. |
 Soon they were triumphant! |
They found it hard to believe, that in 1916. |
A man named Conrad Kain climbed this mountain for the first time, with a pipe in his mouth and steel spikes on his boots. |
The boys now tired abseiled down with thought's of how they would celebrate that night. |
But they had forgotten about the long walk home, and when they got there, they were too tired to party. |
