There are still a few more pictures to come in this gallery...
This was one of my first attempts at taking pictures of the aurora borealis, before I got more interested in photography. This was a pretty spectacular display - the last one visible from St Andrews before the solar minimum. Equipment used for these pictures consisted of a Praktica Nova 1b SLR camera circa 1967 (I bought it second-hand many years ago for about £20, and it was fairly clapped-out even then) with original 50mm lens at f/2.8, balanced on a piece of wood! A wider-angle lens would have been better. The 35mm film was ordinary high-street print film, a mixture of Kodak Gold Ultra (400 iso) and Fuji Superia 400.
