Sonoran Gopher Snake (Pituophis catenifer affinis)

Vail, AZ

This Sonoran Gopher Snake was cruising around the yard a little while ago looking for lunch and a drink. It is about 5 ½ feet long and at the thickest part about 2 inches in diameter. It got a drink from the bird water and wanted to hide in the Penstemons and probably pick off a bird for lunch. I foiled that part and escorted him out of the backyard to the area out front where it can eat all the ground squirrels it can catch.

Great composition and super sharp Jim. I guess he intends to homestead around the pound. He like the landscape there. v

Wonderful clarity and beautifully sharp. The snake and flowers make quite a combination. V
