Embers

Hearth at Home

Well, this photo does not show emotion directly (i.e.: on faces or in human expression), but I personally have always felt that fire is an emotional thing. Personally, fireplaces remind me of some of my younger days around the campfire as a boy scout.

The idea for this particular image came to me on New Year's Eve, while having a relaxing evening (one of very few in 2004) with my family. This in itself was also an emotional high.

The thing that made this capture a bit more complicated was the proximity to the fire (about 18 inches). Because of this, and the fact that I don't own a short tripod), I had to do quick, hand-held shots to avoid melting the camera and burning my face and hands. This also made the image a tad softer than my original aim, but I thought this was a pretty good one. At any rate, I hope you like it, too.
