The Sleeping Woman and Xochimilco

Mexico City, Mexico

View of the Sleeping Woman from the roof of my home. Xochimilco ("so-chee-MIL-co") is an agricultural area in the south of Mexico City where many of the city's flowers are grown. It is criss-crossed with canals that date back to Aztec times, and flat boats, called trajineras, have traditionally plied these canals for both work and pleasure. Many Mexican families head down to Xochimilco for a boating picnic several times a year. Smaller trajineras come up alongside and offer drinks, food, and handicrafts. It's also a place that a lot of tourists visit. This is a wonderfull place to live in the mad megalopolis of Mexico.

What a nice change to have a description with a photograph. A very good image and thanks for taking the time to explain what we are looking at! Others should take a leaf out of your book.
