On the platform before you come to the steps that lead up into the fortifications surrounding the acropolis at Lindos, you can see on the left side, on a rock, a carved semi-circular dais and the stern of a ship.
On the broader part of the ship there is a base on which stood, according to the inscription, a statue of the admiral Agesander. This was a work of the second century BC, attributed to Pythocritus, the creator of the famous Victory of Samothrce.
