A volcanic eruption in Eyjafjalla volcano

On Saturday 20th of March 2010 a volcanic eruption started in the Eyjafjalla volcanic area which is situated on the southern most coast of Iceland. To be more precice the eruption was in a plase called Fimmvörðuháls which is a little east of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano itself.

To see the eruption you had three choises.
You can see it from far away by driving to Fljótshlíð (preferably by a 4x4 because you have to cross rivers) and then you can see it from about 9+ km away.
Then by land over the glacier Mýrdalsjökull (realy going over the volcano Katla which is under the glacier) or walking from Skógar (about 30 km walk over the mountains which is dangerous during winter because of the weather).
And lastly by air.

I took a trip on Saturday 27th of March to Fljótshlíð and saw the eruption from there and the day after I took a plane and saw it from the air.

Here are some of the pictures I took.
