The Bodie State Historic Park is one of the best architectural preservations of our countries gold mining history. Located in Mono County, California, just a few miles out of Bridgeport. It's peak time was 1877-1880 with a population of 5-7000, that level declined steadily over years as gold ore production declined. At the top there where nine stamp mills operating. In the mid 1900's only a few caring families remained and the site officially became a state park 1962. A great place to visit!!
