The Lone Caterpillar

The passionvine was decimated by the freeze, but there is still one fritillary caterpillar looking for food.
So the question is... can he still eat these leaves?
And have no fear, though his spines may look lethal, they are actually soft and do not sting!

Wow, what a stunning close up of this prickly caterpillar. I suspect it can eat the leaves and will probably pupate soon. V
