"Volunteers in Police Services (VIPS) are citizens who have come together to help promote safety and cleanliness in our neighborhoods. The VIPS Program provides support and resources for agencies interested in developing or enhancing a volunteer program and for citizens who wish to volunteer their time and skills with a community law enforcement agency. The police department coordinates with VIPS to make the City safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to any emergency situation. Volunteering with the City provides opportunities for people to participate in a range of measures to make their families, their homes, and their communities safer from threats of crime, terrorism, and disasters of all kinds."
Lucy was pleased to have her photo taken with these VIPS and they made her feel like a VIP as well.
This fella, Michael Barajas, VIPS Coordinator, received the honor of 2012 Volunteer of the Year.
Congratulations Michael!
