At the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento they have a giant on display. After going through the bulk of the museum, and seeing many of the usual locomotive and coach displays, I rounded a corner and was confronted with a giant locomotive of jaw dropping dimensions. This was a Southern Pacific Baldwin 4-8-8-2, cab forward steam locomotive. The scale of this piece of engineering was almost beyond belief. The drive wheels were 63 inches in diameter. I managed to get quite a few shots of this monster, but this shot of the drive wheel crank attachment is one of my favorites, just as a piece engineering art.
